Years later, a new artificial intelligence called Legion rises in place of Skynet, and once again humanity is threatened by a machine uprising.
In the present day, Legion sends a deadly new model of Terminator called theΒ Rev-9Β to Mexico City to assassinate a young woman namedΒ Dani Ramos, who unknowingly holds the key to humanityβs future. Sent to protect her isΒ Grace, an enhanced human soldier from the future, determined to ensure Daniβs survival at all costs. As they fight to stay alive, they are unexpectedly joined byΒ Sarah Connor, who has spent decades hunting Terminators in the aftermath of her sonβs death.
The trio eventually tracks down the very T-800 that killed John. Surprisingly, this Terminatorβnow living under the name Carlβhas developed a conscience and built a quiet life for himself. Feeling guilt for his past actions, Carl agrees to help them defeat the Rev-9 and prevent another dystopian future from unfolding.
In a high-stakes final showdown, Grace sacrifices herself so that Dani and Carl can destroy the Rev-9. Carl ultimately gives his life to complete the mission. The film ends with Dani and Sarah preparing for whatβs to come, knowing that while one threat has been eliminated, the war for the future is far from over.
