Extinction (2015) is a gripping post-apocalyptic horror thriller that explores survival, humanity, and the enduring bonds of love and family amid an icy slum. Directed by Miguel Angel Vivas, the film combines spine-tingling suspense with emotional depth in a story of resilience against monstrous adversity.
The film follows Patrick (Matthew Fox) and Jack (Jeffrey Donovan), two men who have become bitterly distanced after a devastating viral outbreak wiped out much of humanity. Living in isolation with Jack’s youngest daughter Lu (Quinn McColgan), in a deserted, snow-covered town, they struggle to maintain a normal life appearance while avoiding the infected critters that roam the world.
As the years go by, the infected seem to have disappeared, but the icy environment and their fragile coexistence keep tensions high. Yet their fragile peace is shattered when the infected resurface, evolved and more dangerous than ever. Forced to face their fears and differences, Patrick and Jack must unite to protect Lu from the terrifying creatures and the harsh reality of their new world.
